The 6th Chem-E-Car Challenge in the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS
This year, the 6th Chem-E-Car Competition has been successfully organised by the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, (UTP) in Tronoh, Perak Darul Ridzuan. The event was officially opened by the Rector of UTP, Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Haji Kasim with the main VIP’s include; the Director of Undergraduate Studies, Associate Professor Dr. Hilmi Mukhtar, President of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia, Dato Ir. Prof Dr. Chuah Hean Teik and the Chairman of the competition, Ir. Mohamad Fadzil bin Adnan@Nan.
The School of Chemical Engineering, USM had been joining the event from day one it was first launched in Malaysia. This year, 2 teams were appointed, (Synergy2011 and Secret-Weapon) based on the criteria put together during the internal competition back in USM. As the competition progresses from the first day of its infancy, the teams from all over Malaysia have managed to upgrade their chemical reactions and that the mechanisms required for the stopping of the vehicles. This resulted into a very challenging competition between the participated groups. Synergy2011 team has managed to secure third place for the Poster Competition and banked in RM500 for the team.
We hope that the next Chem-E-Car in 2012 at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah will place USM at a better ranking nationally as well as within the ASEAN region. Well done!
