USM Chem-E-Car Competition 2016

Universiti Sains Malaysia Chem-E-Car Competition 2016 has attracted in total 14 teams comprises of Year One to Year Three, Chemical Engineering undergraduates. The competition was held on 9th Nov 2016 (Wednesday) at the Engineering Campus Main Hall, which started at 2.00 pm. The Chemical Engineering annual competition this year was organized by a group of undergraduate students spearheaded by Mr. Low Ying Kai and co-supported by the Chemical Engineering Student Society (ChESS). The objective of the competition is mainly to promote the use of sustainable energy as an alternative fuel, as a substitute to the conventional petroleum-based fuel.

USM Scientists Committed To Contributing More To The Nation

Malaysia's Rising Star Award

PUTRAJAYA, 1 November 2016 – Three scientists from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) did the University proud when they were selected as recipients of the prestigious Malaysia's Rising Star Award 2016 for various categories in a ceremony graced by the Minister of Higher Education, Dato' Seri Idris Jusoh, who gave away the awards here today.

They were Professor Dr. Bassim H. Hameed, from the USM School of Chemical Engineering in recognition of the researcher by Clarivate Analytics for being Malaysia's Highly-Cited Researchers Named Amongst the World's Most Infuential Scientific Minds 2015; Professor Dr. Lee Keat Teong also from the USM School of Chemical Engineering for Malaysia's Rising Star Award (Clarivate Analytics) category of Young Researcher and Professor Dr. Wan Saime Wan Ngah from the USM School of Chemical Sciences for Malaysia's Rising Star Award (Clarivate Analytics) category of Highly-Cited Review.

USM's Chemical Engineering Alumni: Between Campus Life and the Real World

19 October 2016, the School of Chemical Engineering is very proud to welcome two of its alumni back to the campus for the event "Bicara Ilmu & Pameran Latihan Industri 2016", which was held at the Lecture Hall 6, Engineering Campus.

Mr. Ahmad Zarief Sufaat, a Process Engineer of Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation, (PRPC) based in Kuala Lumpur and Mr. Mohd Zulfahmi Mohamad, a Process Manager for Lafarge Malaysia Bhd., in Rawang, Selangor were the panels in the sharing experience session moderated by Dr. Suhairi Abd Sata.
