School of Chemical Engineering Lecturers win gold medal at the Korea International Women's Invention Exposition (KIWIE) 2012

6 MAY 2012: A group of researchers lead by Dr. Suzylawati Ismail, from School of Chemical Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia has been awarded with gold prize medal for an invention of CHI-SORP: A biodegradable Crustacean Waste for Residue Oil Removal in Korea International Women’s Invention Exposition (KIWIE) 2012.

Korea International Women’s Invention Exposition 2012 was organized by Korea Woman Inventors Association (KWIA) in Seoul, Korea from 3-6 May 2012.

Prof. Latif Ahmad Wins Rotary Research Gold Medal Awards

Abdul Latif Ahmad, who is a professor in the School of Chemical Engineering as well as the Research Dean of Fundamental Science Platform has been honoured a prestigious award in Kuala Lumpur by receiving the 7th Rotary Research Gold Medal Award on 13th April 2012. This award was presented by His Royal Highness Sultan of Selangor Darul Ehsan cum Royal Patron of Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.

USM becomes National Champion in 7th Chem-E-Car Competition

It is with great pleasure to announce that School of Chemical Engineering USM has won the first and second places for the Car Competition and also the first place for the Poster Presentation of the 7th Chem-E-Car Competition organized by the Chemical Engineering Technical Division (CETD) of the Institution of Engineers of Malaysia (IEM). This achievement has placed USM as the national champion for the Chem-E-Car competition of 2012.

An Invitation to Agilent GC Maintenance & Troubleshooting Training

Purpose of training:
This course is designed for those who want to gain knowledge on GC basic maintenance and systematic approach to isolate and troubleshoot common GC problems.         

Outline: 

  • Basic GC mainframe 
  • GC flow system 
  • Carrier and detector gases 
  • Inlet systems 
  • Column troubleshooting and maintenance 
  • Automatic liquid sampler (ALS) 
  • Detector troubleshooting and maintenance 
  • Data system         


Prerequisites:  
Basic understanding of fundamentals and a working knowledge of GC. Knowledge of Windows XP or Windows 7.
